Can Free Speech Survive in Iran?

Episode 948:

For the past 3 or 4 days folks in Iran have been protesting the economic conditions. Prices are going up and wages are stagnate, with no improvement on the horizon. So folks have taken to the streets to protest their government.

The Iranian government is starting to crack down and warn protesters it will not tolerate violence. So far the only violence seems to be coming from the government. The government is also trying to shut down social media platforms to “prevent violence”.

One of the best way to oppose an authoritarian government is for the citizens to be able to speak freely amongst themselves, and voice their grievances to and about their government. Free speech needs to be protected and advanced by those who have it. We need to support those in Iran who are looking for their voice while exercising their right of free speech.

Daily Bible Reading: Genesis 3:14-15  So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life. 15  And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”

Quotemeal: “One must always maintain one’s connection to the past and yet ceaselessly pull away from it.” — Gaston Bachelard

Hello my name is Dan Clements, and I host a live radio show M-F from 12 noon - 1pm ET every week. It's called The Dan Clements Show. It is a Christian/political talk show where we talk about the issues of the day from a Christian point of view. We cover all topics of a political nature, and sometimes some topics that are not. I try to keep the show lite, engaging, and easy to understand. I want people to come away from my show knowing that they have learned something new, or how to look at an issue from a different point of view. So please come and be apart of the conversation. I'm a veteran of the US Navy and the Army National Guard. I have been married to my wonderful wife Lori for almost 32 years and have 2 children. I love my God and my country and am working hard to teach the truth about both.
