Episode 883:
Ethical Humanist are the proverbial “wolf in sheep’s clothing” who subvert folks who don’t know any better. An ethical person reasons with themselves if something is right or wrong. They don’t instinctively know what is right or wrong because everything to them is situational. A moral person has already reasoned out if something is right or wrong, and does what is right.
Ethical humanist believe that morals evolve over time, because societies evolve over time. To the ethical humanist, there are no set in stone morals in which you can govern your life by. Each situation in life is unique therefore, morals need to adapt to each new situation.
A moral person has learned that there are objective truths in life, and therefore there can be objective morals that do not change. What was moral 1000 years ago is still moral today. If we hold to certain truths about human relationships, then we are sure to hold to a certain moral code also based on those truths.
The bottom line is, ethical humanist believe in living their lives in a very subjective way. They have no moral standard that they live by. On the other hand, someone who lives their lives in a objective manner doesn’t face a moral dilemma when new situations in their lives come along. A moral person does what is right, without regard to how they feel, because it’s the right thing to do every time it needs to be done!!!
Daily Bible Reading: Acts 5:26-29 Then the captain went with the officers and brought them without violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned. 27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, 28 saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!” 29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.
