Confirmations, Constitutions, and Conventions
Today we will see if judge Neil Gorsuch’s nomination will come out of committee and go to the full Senate for confirmation. Democrats have threatened a filibusterer, and are calling out the Republicans for even thinking about taking the nuclear option. Lest we forget Harry Reid-D did just that in 2013, Senate goes for nuclear option-Politico. As usual, the Democrats want it both ways and are made when rules they invoked are used against them.
The Constitution Party is having it’s Spring 2017 National Committee Meeting in St. Louis May 5-6. The keynote speaker will be Constitution Party VP nominee Dr. Scott Bradley and he will be addressing the topic of “The Perils of a Con-Con”. We have spoken at length on my program about how I disagree with my party on this subject, but I look forward to hearing Dr. Bradley address this issue once again.
Finally, the Convention of States project is moving ever closer to their goal of calling a convention of states to address the short comings that the founding fathers knew would exist because they knew they were not all knowing. In order to drain the swamp, some fundamental changes need to be made on how our government operates, and return the stolen power of the states and the people back to where it rightfully belongs!!!

A funny thing happened on the way to the show!!!
As I was preparing for today’s Free-4-All-Friday show this week, I couldn’t help but find some humor in a few articles that I normally wouldn’t comment on. But sometimes I just can’t help myself.
I know some of the articles I will be sharing today may be of a serious nature to some folks, but we sometimes need to take a moment and see the humor in life and enjoy it.
From liberals owning the “snowflake” label, I’m still laughing about that one, to the bathroom issue in North Carolina. I found some humor in Google and FaceBook’s attempts a curbing fake news.
If we are serious all the time then we become sourpusses, and all of the joy in life will be missed. Having a good laugh every now and then is good for the soul, even if that laugh isn’t always pointed back at you!!! Remember keep smiling, it make make folks wonder what you’ve been up too!!!

Is immigration a basic human right?
As Americans we still struggle with what is right and wrong with our immigration system, we should look at the basic premise of the issue, is immigration a basic human right.
Libertarians and progressives look at the issue from a freedom of association stand point. We are free to associate with whom ever we like. I do agree with this up to a certain point. Like all of our basic human rights (and they are finite not infinite) we can exercise them, but we can’t force others to except our exercising of those rights. We have freedom of speech, however we can’t force people to listen to us. We have a right to bear arms and protect ourselves, however private property rights come into play here, in that if I don’t want weapons on my private property, that’s my right also.
Freedom of association also works this way. We as a society set up rules for coming here and associating with us. You are free to associate with whomever you want, but your not free to force that association on me our on society as a whole.
Rights are not absolute, we can’t violate others rights while trying to exercise our rights. There is a difference between public and private property. Rights in the public domain must be given the broadest latitude when exercising them, but they can not violate personal, or private property rights while being exercised.

Cutting government programs and departments
Where do I sign up for this!!! How many more bureaucracies does the federal government need in order to carry out their enumerated powers? How many extra constitutional powers has the federal government given itself? How many more straws can the camel handle before it’s back breaks?
Leftist and progressives want to use Europe as an example of what we should be doing here in America. However they never use what Europe is doing wrong, or worse yet they rewrite what Europe is doing wrong to make it look good.
The fact is because of the EU’s bloated bureaucracies, and uncontrolled immigration, it is collapsing in on itself. The Europe we knew when I was a child will no longer exist, because it will have imploded in on itself!!!
Getting America back to it’s constitutional roots and putting the chains of the constitution on the federal government is the best way to make sure we don’t end up like Europe!!!

Many if not all Democrats and left wingers alike are very angry these days. Some polls suggest that they are angrier now than they were a year ago. They seem to be in a perpetual state of anger over the very of smallest of things. Their anger has even caused them to be less civil than they normally would be.
One of the major factors could be that leftist and liberals think with their hearts and not their heads. What and how they feel are the determining factor in their politics. Sound logic and facts seldom enter into the picture. And if you use logic and facts to support a position different from a liberals position, you will be accused of having no heart and you will be labeled a hate monger!!!
Emotions, empathy, feelings, and compassion are good qualities to have and abound in, however if they are not tempered with facts, logic, and sound reasoning, a lot of damage will be done in the name of social progress!!!

Whose money is it anyways?
No matter what your thoughts are about tax dollars, you will get a wide range of opinion on how it should be spent. There are two major schools of thought and they break down along party lines, the tax dollars belong to the government, and the tax dollars are the people’s and the government is just the stewards of those tax dollars.
Liberals believe the tax dollars are the governments to spend as directed by liberals for liberal cause, which usually amounts to virtue signaling. Liberals believe the “general welfare” means that tax dollars can be spent on any program to help anyone for any reason without any means testing.
Conservatives on the other hand view tax dollars as a trust we extend to our stewards in government, and they should be careful on what those tax dollars should be spent on. We are talking about the federal government in this case but it could be extended to state and local governments as well.
Bottom line is this some serious questions need to be ask and answered; Can the federal government act charitable on someone else’s behalf? If you don’t think it is charitable for the government to spend money, should you be forced to pay tax dollars to support it?

Freedom and Liberty or Social democracy? Ya can’t have both!!!
You can’t regulate happenstance out of life. Accidents happen, unforeseen illnesses happen, and things just go wrong as we live our lives the way we see fit!!!
Oh you can try to minimize risk, but in the final analysis life happens!!! Social democrats want to control the chaos, and the only way to accomplish this is to control people and what they can or can not do. Social democrats force people to believe the way they do so the control is easier. Allowing people to control their own lives is just foreign to their way of thinking!!!
Freedom and liberty is about taking care of oneself and family before anything else. After our basic needs are meet through personal industry, then and only then can we work to improve our community and society as a whole!!! Social democrats want us to take care of society first before anything else at the expense of community and family!!!

Today congress will try to vote on repealing Obamacare, and replacing it with Ryancare. A vast majority of Americans are concerned about the outcome of a vote on the ACA and repealing it.
For the sake of the constitution and America, the ACA needs to repealed without a replacement that keeps the government in charge of our healthcare. To do anything else would be to go back on campaign promises that were made to the American people, mainly to repeal Obamacare!!!
Anytime government tries to control anything that a sovereign individual should be taking care of themselves, it never ends well. In order for the government to handle stuff, freedom and liberty, of necessity, needs to be curtailed!!! This is the nature of government that is socialistic, freedom and liberty die, so safety and security imposed by the government can take it’s place.
There are no guarantees in life except from God. So knowing this how can anyone believe that government can guarantee anything will work if we just give them control?

The left and SCOTUS
It is amazing how the left want’s an activist judge on the bench at SCOTUS, but will not come right out and say it. The left want’s to control all aspects of government including SCOTUS, never mind that SCOTUS is an independent third branch of our federal government.
The confirmation hearings for judge Neil Gorsuch have been taking place this week and as predictable as the sun coming up in the east, there is a vast political divide in the senate judiciary committee. And just as predictable are the lefts questions that pander to their ill informed base.
I know this is a lifetime appointment (My hope is the convention of states can put term limits on SCOTUS) and great care should be taken, however to use your questions to scare your base into believing a lie about the constitution speaks volumes to a persons character, and those who keep voting them into office!!!

Unintended consequences
Everyday all across America folks make choices in their lives that affect how they live and maybe how someone else lives their lives. Some folks try to see every aspect of a situation, including the unseen and unintended consequences. We can’t know everything before we make a decision, but we try to educate ourselves to minimize any unintended consequences.
When we ignore the unintended consequences or the unseen we are bound to get in trouble to the point that someone has to bail us out. This is definitely true when it comes to going to college and borrowing money to do so. Having to barrow more money than you can pay back for an education is the very definition of a bad financial investment!!!
