California seems to be leading the way for the misguided idea of reparations for slavery! California state and local debt is $1.6 trillion! And they want to add more on top of that? For what??
How do you determine who gets reparations in the first place? Can one prove they are descendants of slaves? How about the descendants of black slave owners? Who’s going to pay for the reparations? Some say the government should pay, OK but which government? The Union was apposed to slavery, and the Confederate states who supported the practice of slavery, is no longer in existence!
Should families like mine have their tax dollars go to reparations even though we didn’t immigrate here until after slavery was abolished? Some say it’s biblical and site passages and verses to support reparations. They cite verses out of Exodus, Leviticus, Luke and Ezra, but do these verses teach reparations, or are the supporters of this views reading into God’s word?
So be sure, it is a subject that needs debated, however the debate needs to be honest and unemotional if we are ever to put the subject to rest one way or another!!
