I speak with my father in-law frequently, that may be because we live next door to each other. Today I had a brief discussion with him about politics, and my doing this radio show. He ask what type of radio show it was, and I told him it was a Christian/political talk show. He proceeded to berate me about what I was doing, that it wouldn’t make any difference in anyone’s mind, that Christianity and politics don’t have anything to do with each other, and that the millionaires run the country and it doesn’t matter what we do, we can’t change that. He also went on to tell me that is why he doesn’t vote, because his vote doesn’t matter.
As a Christian, my Christian world view informs the rest of my life. My father in-law is so ill informed that he doesn’t know who all is running for president. I love my father in-law, however he thinking shows one of the many things that is wrong with America. A citizen is involved and tries to make changes to the things that they think are wrong according to the US Constitution. Anything less than this makes you a subject, or worse a freeloader!
Daily Bible reading: Heb 11:1-6 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. 4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. 5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “AND WAS NOT FOUND, BECAUSE GOD HAD TAKEN HIM”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
