America has always had a grand tradition when it came to competing ideas we would debate them. I remember reading about how the Church of Christ would debate about Bible issues with anyone who wanted to debate them. In high schools when I was growing up we had debate clubs. It seemed at one time in America we debated anything and everything and loved to do so.
Now in America, there doesn’t seem to be any civil debate or discourse. It doesn’t matter what the issue is, it seems one or both sides of the issue doesn’t want a debate. It seems to this commentator that the progressive left doesn’t want to have the debate. I believe the reason why is two-fold, 1 because the progressive left thinks they have the intellectual and moral high ground, or 2 they know they would get their collective clocks cleaned on most issues of the day. I personally believe it is number 2.
So what does the progressive left do when they know they couldn’t win a straight-up debate? Deplatform the speaker so the opponent’s message is not heard. This is a very risky strategy but one in which the progressive left loves to embark on. It’s risky because sooner or later folks are going to figure out your deplatforming speakers because you have no arguments to refute what is being said!!!
