I have been keeping an eye on the news about gun control for a while now and the last couple of weeks it seems we have entered the twilight zone! Each side is talking but neither side is listening. And the biggest elephant in the room is not being discussed, WHY DO MASS SHOOTINGS HAPPEN?
All I hear are band-aid solutions to the underlying problems. Both sides are trying to fix the symptom without healing with the root cause. There are three and maybe more causes as I see them, fatherless sons, drug covered mental illness, and bullying. Until we deal with these three problems the mass shooting will continue.
Eliminating guns will not solve the problem, fixing the holes in the background checks system will not fix the problem, holding all levels of government accountable for dropping the ball will not fix the problem. Don’t get me wrong these things need to be done but the underlying issues need to be addressed, and the government may not be the right place to look for answers!
