By now everyone has the preliminary details of the Florida school shooting. I’m not going to deal with the facts that have been presented so far. I’m going to talk about the story surrounding the shooting.
It is starting to look like the FBI and local law enforcement dropped the ball on the Florida school shooter. It appears the FBI couldn’t identify the school shooter when it was brought to their attention last year. A YouTube video comment was screen captured and the FBI was called but they failed to identify the shooter even though his name was in the comment.
Sheriffs deputies were called 39 times to the residence of the shooter over a 3 year period, wow! Nothing came of those visits, but the question remains, could something have been done? So many missed opportunities.
The question remains what can be done to prevent these tragedies? New laws on gun control? Is there an educational solution? Ban all firearms in America? Arm teachers and school staff? Police and or veteran patrols of schools? These and other questions are being asked and an answer is being sought, What do you think?
