EPISODE 340: Is Federalism conducive to Individualism?

Facebooktwitterpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

What is Federalism and how does it work? We have been talking most of the week about how F.A. Hayek looked at Individualism and how any society would be better off with this social order. I know the being an individual takes a lot of hard work, and is not for the faint of heart. My question is, because some in our society who will not put in the effort to take care of themselves and the people who may depend on them, does that means the those who will be individuals have to foot the bill for the those who refuse to put in the hard work? This may be one of the most important cultural question of our time!!!

Daily Bible reading: Rom 11:1-11 I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying, 3 “LORD, THEY HAVE KILLED YOUR PROPHETS AND TORN DOWN YOUR ALTARS, AND I ALONE AM LEFT, AND THEY SEEK MY LIFE”? 4 But what does the divine response say to him? “I HAVE RESERVED FOR MYSELF SEVEN THOUSAND MEN WHO HAVE NOT BOWED THE KNEE TO BAAL.”5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace 6 And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work. 7 What then? Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. 8 Just as it is written: “GOD HAS GIVEN THEM A SPIRIT OF STUPOR, EYES THAT THEY SHOULD NOT SEE AND EARS THAT THEY SHOULD NOT HEAR, TO THIS VERY DAY.” 9 And David says: “LET THEIR TABLE BECOME A SNARE AND A TRAP, A STUMBLING BLOCK AND A RECOMPENSE TO THEM. 10 LET THEIR EYES BE DARKENED, SO THAT THEY DO NOT SEE, AND BOW DOWN THEIR BACK ALWAYS.” 11 I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles.

Quotemeal: “We can love the world, or love God. If we love the world, there will be no room in our heart for the love of God. We cannot love both God, who is eternal, and the world, which is transitory.” — St. Augustine of Hippo

Hello, my name is Dan Clements, and I host a live show every Friday from 12 noon-1pm ET every week. I also record a daily show that is posted in the afternoon. It's called The Dan Clements Show on YouTube and on my show page. The Dan Clements Show is a Christian/political talk show where we talk about the issues of the day from a Christian point of view. We cover all topics of a political nature, and sometimes some topics that are not. I try to keep the show lite, engaging, and easy to understand. I want people to come away from my show knowing that they have learned something new, or how to look at an issue from a different point of view. So please come and be apart of the conversation. I also upload 1-3 short videos Monday - Thursday, so be on the lookout for those videos as well!!! I'm a veteran of the US Navy and the Army National Guard. I have been married to my wonderful wife Lori for almost 32 years and have 2 children. I love my God and my country and am working hard to teach the truth about both.
